Joint Crisis

The Security Council

The Security Council is, arguably, the most important committee in the United Nations today. Its fifteen member body comprised of the five permanent members, China, France, The Russian Federation, The United Kingdom, and the United States of America, and ten temporary members who hold their seat on the Council for two years. This year the following ten nations will be represented: Belgium, Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Indonesia, Italy, Panama, Peru, Qatar, Slovakia, and South Africa. Because of our size, all members of the Security Council at DUMUNC XXVII will be able to fully experience the thrills and challenges of international politics. I look forward to chairing a Security Council that is even more exciting than it has been in the past, and I hope to see you in Feburary.

Model United Nations has been a passion of mine for seven years – over 1/3 of my entire life. I have participated, chaired, and organized more than 15 conferences during that period and I am excited about being able to continue chairing as President of the Security Council for the second year in a row. I am a junior at Duke University majoring in Political Science with a minor in Russian and a certificate in Markets and Managements. I hail from West Palm Beach, Florida, and I look to a wonderful conference this year at DUMUNC.
