Shalom! You have arrived at the Israeli branch of the JCC: 1956 Suez Crisis. Our cabinet will not only examine the crisis from Israel’s perspective, but also focus on some of the major internal conflicts of the time. The state of Israel, founded in 1948, has had a difficult life, having to face both local and global pressures. You will quickly come to realize that the majority of Israeli’s problems surround the overarching Israeli-Arab conflict. In regards to the chief crisis at hand, we shall work closely with our ally, the United Kingdom, to hopefully regain our right to the Suez, which Egypt so indignantly revoked. With all of Israeli’s troubles, no doubt, our committee will be full of exciting debate and action!

Hi everyone! I'm currently a sophomore at Duke, from New
York City, pursuing a history major, probably with a concentration in the
Middle East. Hence, I could not be more thrilled to chair the Israeli Cabinet
during this year's joint crisis simulation. On top of being involved with MUN here at
Duke, I also play club field hockey and am a member of a sorority. I spent
most of my summer interning with an investigator in the juvenile rights
department at a non-profit law firm. I can't wait to meet all of you, and see
you in action as we defend a new nation by waging war and fighting for Israel's
rights! |
