Welcome Delegates and Advisers! This year’s DUMUNC marks the 30th anniversary of our conference and thus 30 years of excellence. Like many other events labeled XXX, this will surely be an interesting four days. We have the most experienced staff, thoughtful and provocative topics, unique diversions and more extra-conference activities than ever before. While maintaining our small committee sizes we have taken on additional support staff to make this the best year of DUMUNC since its inception. Running this conference has been a dream come true. I started Model UN my freshmen year in high school and have never stopped. Traveling all four years in college with our MUN team and participating in both DUMUNC and DISC (Duke’s College Conference) has kept me in love with International Affairs. Spending the last few summers in Africa and traveling the continent has given me a unique perspective and new ideas you are sure to see around this year’s conference. I graduate this year with a degree in African Studies and a double concentration in Political Science. I leave behind my sorority, my fundraising initiative for schools in Uganda, and a lot of great memories. However, I will never forget my days spent working on DUMUNC. I cannot wait to see you in February. Please contact me at anytime, with anything you need.

My name is Ankit Jain, and I’m the Chief of Staff for DUMUNC XXX. I’m a junior here at Duke, majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Economics. Despite all this math and science, I have a hidden love for international relations that dates back to my freshman year in high school when I joined the Model UN program. After participating in endless midnight sessions and crazy debates in high school, I’m super excited to be on the other side of the conference, preparing and developing the topics and ideas you will be debating for a weekend. We worked hard on developing topics that cover the incredibly diverse field of International Relations and Security. Aside from DUMUNC, I’m heavily involved with dance, intramurals, and TAing. I’m also a huge sports fan, and being from Chicago, I’m lucky to follow the Bears, Bulls, and (unfortunately) the Cubs. But Duke Basketball will always be dearest in my heart. If you have any questions about DUMUNC, Duke, Chicago, the weather (or anything really), feel free to shoot me an e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Hi! My name is Priya Bhat, and I am the Treasurer for the Duke International Relations Association, the parent organization which has put on DUMUNC. Since I handle all financial transactions with the organization, including DUMUNC, please feel free to contact me with any issues or concerns of that nature. At Duke, I am a senior from a suburb just outside of Nashville, Tennessee and a History major with a minor in Medieval and Renaissance studies. In addition to Model UN, I am involved with the freshman orientation program on campus, and am always very happy to talk to anyone about coming to Duke! This year at DUMUNC XXX, you will be able to find me chairing the UN Office on Drug and Crime. In the past, you might have seen me as the assistant chair of the Human Rights Council or as rapporteur of GA4. I know our entire staff has put forth a lot of hard work to make what is sure to be an incredible conference, and I look forward to meeting everyone in February!
